PHYSIOTHERAPY PROGRAM
The Physiotherapy Program, one of the programs within the Vocational School of Health Services at Bartın University, which was established in 2008, began education in the 2019–2020 academic year.
The aim of the Physiotherapy Program is to train physiotherapy technicians who, during their two-year associate degree education, are equipped with contemporary knowledge and skills that are highly needed in state hospitals, private hospitals, university hospitals, physical therapy and rehabilitation clinics, and private specialty centers. The program aims to educate graduates who have developed research and problem-solving abilities, possess cultural awareness and communication skills, can use technological tools and equipment, and prioritize human health and ethical values.
As physical therapy is a continuously evolving field that renews itself with technological advancements, the need for qualified personnel in this area has steadily increased. The demand for physical therapy and rehabilitation services is also growing in cases of injuries, illnesses, orthopedic disabilities, musculoskeletal disorders, and pain and functional impairments resulting from various conditions. The program will continue its educational process in alignment with innovations and the requirements of the modern era.
Graduates of the Physiotherapy Program receive an associate degree diploma along with the title of Physiotherapy Technician. They can work in public and private inpatient/outpatient healthcare institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health, rehabilitation centers, university hospitals and healthcare facilities, physical therapy and rehabilitation clinics, private specialty centers, nursing homes, thermal and spa centers, and hotels focused on health tourism.
During their two-year education, students take both theoretical and practical courses. The program also includes an internship period. The Physiotherapy Laboratory is equipped with heat, light, and electrotherapy devices used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinics, as well as treatment beds for practice. The language of instruction is Turkish. Students complete their clinical practice at the Bartın State Hospital Physical Therapy Unit. The program currently has 55 students. By utilizing all opportunities of modern education, the program aims to provide training at a level that enables students to compete with other universities nationally and internationally. The technological infrastructure and educational facilities of the department are organized in a way that allows students to gain the skills needed to take on responsibilities they will encounter in their professional careers.
